Hawthorne Happenings

A Bike Education for Parents session will be held Wednesday, May 2nd at Hawthorne Elementary from 6:30-8:00pm. Childcare will be provided. Parents and teachers from all schools in the City of SLO are invited. The meeting will be held in Hawthorne's Staff Room. To find it, enter the blacktop area of the playground from Sandercock Street. The staff room is the first room on the left (directly below the office). RSVP to Rod@PeakRacks.com so we can get a headcount. Let us know if you need childcare.

Other important dates for Hawthorne students and parents:

• Friday, April 27th: Safe Routes Assembly. 1pm in the multi-use room.

• Friday, May 11th: First Safe Routes day. To participate, children can walk or bike to school, carpool, take the bus (walk to the bus stop!), or ride a skateboard or scooter to school. For more information, contact saferouteshawthorne@gmail.com

• May 8th-June 7th: SuperCyclers Kids Bike Education. Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 3:30, these informative courses will teach kids how to safely use their bikes as transportation. Taught by a League of American Bicyclists Cycling Educator.
