Hawthorne Kick-Off Assembly: The Crowd Goes Wild!

Hawthorne Elementary's Safe Routes to School Assembly was a big hit with students and teachers alike. Children enjoyed the slide show, lively music, and informational presentations by volunteer Bonnie McKee-Hoadley (shown in photo) and representatives from the Air Pollution Control District. Also present were two SLO Police Department representatives, who will assist with traffic control on Safe Routes program days.

Students leaving the assembly could be heard excitedly discussing how they would participate on the program's first day, Friday, May 11th.

Let's have a big round of applause for Hawthorne's Safe Routes to School program!

Congratulations on the great kickoff assembly. We are looking forward to having some new walking buddies on 5/11.
